here in the philippines, a pharmacist is quite said to be only a salesperson, a sales girl or boy to that. And may i add theres quite problem distinguishing the difference between a drugstore or just a store. yes, they have their common grounds, the sell stuffs. But what hurts me is that, why do most people fails to see the importance of being a pharmacist?yes, we do go often to our doctors to ask for medical advice. yes, its the doctors who cures it. the silent partner is the pharmacist, i call it. coz without the knowledge of a pharmacist, its really hard to distinguish what kind of medicine is for you.
Did you ever ask how this drug works? how this drug interacts with my system? whats in the drug that you feel relieved after an hour after taking it? is it safe to take this?
how do i take it?
Although there may be a point when we say
why do i have to ask? just as long im cured then there will be no problem. WRONG. we have to be responsible in everything we take in our mouth.its our life.
we have the right to question everything, even everything that saves us.
There are really cases of drug overdose; A mother could harm that child in her womb; instances where, when you take the drug theres no effect and so u have to take again and twice the dose this time (not recommended).
These are just some of those incidents that may and can happen if we are not careful enough. The pharmacist can counsel and can give advice on your medicines they dont only work purely on compound and dispense. Coz for me, the doctor is too busy for this things to be talked about doctors do give diagnosis, tells you about your condition and asks you to buy this medicine for you to take; and then comeback next week or whenever he says so. But why this drug?
